Mithras Temple

Mithraeum (3rd/4th century AD) is the oldest national monument in Jajce. The cult of the invincible god of the sun – Mithras was spread throughout all the provinces of the Roman Empire, including the province of Dalmatia, within whose borders was the largest part of today’s Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of Mithraism tried to place their cult places in caves, but they also built small one-cell temples – caves, and if the terrain allowed, buried them in the ground.
